The name Tempest has always been synonymous with high-quality engineering.

Our background is in diesel application engineering which requires a product designed and engineered to suit a particular application. The company today is still structured with a strong engineering bias and the products we manufacture bear the hallmark of this strict engineering discipline.
We carry this system of design and manufacture through to our standard product range, where they are designed by our own engineering team using our own designed and manufactured control systems to ensure optimum performance and lifespan.
Each set is then proven under various load conditions to measure performance before it is released to the customer.
Our soundproof canopies are also tested to ensure adequate airflows to ensure that engine performance is not affected and to verify the claimed sound attenuation level.
We have our own mechanical and electrical engineering teams to fully support the product before, during and after production.

Allam Marine were the innovators behind the CKD concept and are the only approved CKD supplier in the world for Perkins, Cummins and Volvo.
We have a dedicated team of panel builders headed by our electrical design department which enables us to design and manufacture systems to particular client requirements.

We can chart our history back to circa 1935 when the company was established in Manchester manufacturing generators and compressors.
During this time we have consistently manufactured products having high engineering design content such as marine propulsion engines and generators, refrigeration engines, special application diesel powered units as well as generating sets for military and industrial applications.
Production moved from Manchester to Barnack Road, Stamford in 1965 and then to Foundry Road, Stamford in 1968 along with a change of name to Tempest Diesels Ltd.
In 1989 we were the first company to successfully introduce the CKD engine and alternator supply concept
which
to this day is acknowledged as one of the most innovative and successful business models seen in the
industry.
A further change of name to Allam Marine Ltd came in 1992 when the company re-located to Hull.
In 2008 we moved to larger premises at Melton on the outskirts of Hull and in 2012 our new factory and head offices were added to cater for the volume and to create a secure platform to take the company forward in the future.
Our success has resulted in two Queens Awards and many other industry accolades.
So, different locations and different names but still a British company proudly manufacturing in England over 85 years later!
